Australian reality star David Genat made television history this week when he took home the largest prize ever won on a game show.

The Australian Survivor star, who won Australian Survivor: All Stars in 2020, had taken the crown on the USA show Deal Or No Deal Island.

The 45-year-old Aussie model walked away with US$5.8million from the NBC series, which comes in at a cool AU$9.2million.

However, David has revealed that the cheque is still in the mail, despite having filmed his auspicious win back in August last year.

Channel Seven caught up with David in Los Angeles on Thursday, following the airing of his landmark win this week.

When asked how it feels becoming an instant multimillionaire, David did not struggle to find an answer.

‘It feels pretty good, man. I’ve got to say it feels pretty, pretty, pretty good. It’s amazing,’ David gushed.

The reporter then asked if it was a tough task keeping his eye-watering win a secret for six months.

David then revealed he had to keep his mouth shut for even longer while admitting he still hadn’t been paid, despite his episode being filmed nearly eight months prior.

‘No, it’s longer. We filmed in August so it’s been really wild, and I haven’t gotten the money yet.’

The reality star was not concerned about his lack of payment, adding: ‘That’s a good thing.’

Nonetheless, David added that he would be keeping an eagle eye on his bank balance over the coming weeks.

‘I think you’ve got 90 days from the final ep,’ he said.

‘But I will be checking my bank balance on Instagram every day, don’t you worry.’

David joked that he hoped his payment will come in the form of a giant novelty cheque, normally reserved for these types of occasions.

‘I ain’t getting some piddly little cheque,’ he joked. ‘Biggest reality show win in history, they better bring out the giant cheque.’

David also put a humorous full stop on the chat, as he sat on the back of a black car wearing sunglasses.

As he aloofly raised the tinted window he declared: ‘The money won’t change me.’

‘I’m rich… I am the Golden God of Deal Or No Deal Island,’ he boasted to the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday.

‘No one from Australia has done what I’ve done and no one from Australia has crossed over into American (reality) television, this is the first time it’s been done.’

‘Not only have I crossed over, I’ve won the biggest amount of money ever on American reality television, so I hope it opens a lot of doors for Australian talent wanting to do what I’ve done.’

David, who said that the skills he learnt on Australian Survivor helped him win Deal Or No Deal Island, told NBC that he plans to spend the money on his four children, who he shares with wife Pearl Christensen.

'I ain't getting some piddly little cheque,' he joked. 'Biggest reality show win in history, they better bring out the giant cheque.'

‘I probably shouldn’t be saying this out loud because they’re gonna hold me to it, but like, all my kids are coming up to driving age,’ David said.

‘So I’m probably gonna have to buy a fleet of new vehicles. I mean, hey, that’s what I’m gonna do.’

He also had some plans for himself, disclosing, ‘I’m gonna buy myself a new motorcycle ’cause I love motorcycles. That’ll be my little fun spend’.

David first found fame in 2002 when he won the Search for a Supermodel contest after he accepted a $50 bet.

Later he became successful across the world, and was featured in Vogue and Vanity Fair – most notably photographed by the iconic Mario Testino.

David returned to reality TV by starring in Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders in 2019.

In 2021, he joined the cast of The Celebrity Apprentice, where he was fired in task 7.

In 2023, he expanded his career by hosting an adventure reality series for Channel Nine called Rush.
