While his time on Married At First Sight may be coming to an end, Ryan Donnelly has been spotted on another very popular TV show this week. A fan took to social media on Thursday to point out that the 36-year-old makes a cameo appearance in the new BINGE Original Series The Last Anniversary.

“Just watching new series on BINGE, is this who I think it is? It’s called The Last Anniversary,” they wrote alongside a screenshot of Ryan.

The reality star can be seen around the 20-minute mark in episode one wearing a white t-shirt and colourful jacket in the background of an office scene.

The Last Anniversary, which is executive produced by Nicole Kidman and based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty, is an Australian drama series that was filmed in Sydney in November 2023.

It stars Teresa Palmer, Miranda Richardson and Danielle Macdonald, and centres around a mysterious island made famous by the disappearance of a couple decades ago.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle about his cameo, Ryan confirms he played a “simple police officer guarding the star patient in that episode”.

“Always amazing fun on sets like those,” he adds.

Many viewers have since commented on the Facebook post saying they had also spotted Ryan on the show, but clarified that he is an ‘extra’ and doesn’t have a speaking role.

“He was an extra, not an actor. There’s a difference,” one person wrote, while another added, “A lot of people are part of agencies that offer small parts or extras. It’s just a way of earning extra $$”.

“Must be a very small part or even a walk-on because he doesn’t feature in the cast list on IMDb,” a third shared, followed by a different user who joked, “It’s a huge part he literally walks over to photocopy a piece of paper”.

“My daughter is an ‘extra’. She has an agent and gets lots of jobs like this,” someone else replied. “Shows like MAFS are often advertised through extras agencies. It doesn’t necessarily mean the participants aren’t genuine, but more that they are ‘camera ready and friendly’.”

The Last Anniversary certainly isn’t Ryan’s first acting role, as he has previously appeared in Neighbours and NCIS: Sydney. He also had a cameo appearance on Beauty and the Geek in 2022 and was spotted on the streets of Sydney filming a major Hollywood film earlier this year.

While Ryan has reportedly left his job as a project manager to pursue acting full-time since filming MAFS, his TV ‘wife’ Jacqui Burfoot recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that she doesn’t believe he was acting on the show.

“He was always putting on a performance because that’s his personality, but he wasn’t acting during the show,” she asserted.

“I knew he was making mistakes, he was freaking out about the drop, that’s not him acting. He was genuinely there, making mistakes and obviously had no control over what was going on or the narrative. So I was never worried he was actually paid to be an actor to be married to me.”

A handful of other MAFS 2025 participants have also recently been exposed for having acting careers, with Jeff Gobbels playing police officer Kurt Bridges in three episodes of Neighbours and Veronica Cloherty appearing in several films.
