It was rumoured late last year that Queen Camilla would be making a cameo appearance on Married At First Sight after she unexpectedly disrupted filming. The Queen halted production during her royal tour of Australia with King Charles when she visited Green Square Library, which is right next to the MAFS accommodation at OneGlobal Resorts.

A production insider told Yahoo Lifestyle at the time that the participants were getting ready to film the final dinner party of the season when they heard sirens going off to signal her arrival. Hundreds of people gathered around the apartment building as a heavy police presence formed, and the cast members all stood on their balconies to catch a glimpse of the Queen.

“All of the cast were filming on their iPhones, and producers quickly repositioned the camera crew to get footage. They know it’d be ratings gold to try and feature a royal onto the show somehow,” the source shared.

While the Queen’s unexpected cameo won’t be featured in Wednesday night’s episode, Jamie Marinos tells Yahoo Lifestyle it was definitely one of the wildest moments of her MAFS experience.

“It was insane. It was on a dinner party day because we were getting ready and Dave wanted to have a shower, and I was like, ‘But the Queen is coming! Like, what are the chances?’,” she recalls.

“We found out she was coming because we had like, cops and stuff, everyone blocking off the street, and I was like, ‘This is f**king nuts!’. Imagine having front row seats to the Queen, like our balcony was literally facing her. It was crazy.”

Jamie shares that all of the camera operators and participants stood outside to watch the Queen and her partner Dave Thomas Hand shouted something at her from their balcony.

“He said something and I was like, ‘You’re not going to embarrass us right now in front of the Queen’. It was giving boganic,” she laughs. “Whatever was coming out of his mouth, I remember being like, ‘No! We’re classy now!’.”

Although Queen Camilla might not have appeared on MAFS, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently revealed that the reality show is a staple in his household.

He told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev, and Nick on Tuesday that he doesn’t have a lot of time to watch TV, but his fiancée Jodie Haydon is “obsessed” with MAFS.

“I must say that Jodie and I have an enormous amount in common; same footy team, same political views broadly, same TV shows,” he detailed. “Although she’s obsessed with Married At First Sight. I’m not quite as obsessed.”

This comes shortly after he posted a selfie on social media with Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels, who are rumoured to be the only couple still together from this year’s season.

“I’m pro marriage – hope to have one this year! Bumped into @mafs stars Jeff and Rhi in Perth,” he captioned the post.
