She’s been one of the most outspoken and unfiltered brides on Married At First Sight this season.
And now Jamie Marinos is setting the record straight about that final date task that sent shockwaves through the experiment.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the 28-year-old marketing manager didn’t hold back as she opened up about the moment she agreed to meet a potential new match – only to be stood up – and how it impacted her rollercoaster romance with Dave Hand.
‘Let’s be clear, it wasn’t a date,’ Jamie insisted, laughing.
‘If you heard me say the word ‘meet-up’ a million times, that’s because I wanted to make it very clear I wasn’t cheating. I even made sure the girls were covered and the Vans were on – I’m conservative at heart!’
Wearing her signature black Vans and a casual yet chic ensemble, Jamie said she went into the task with curiosity rather than romantic intent.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the 28-year-old marketing manager didn’t hold back as she opened up about the moment she agreed to meet a potential new match – only to be stood up – and how it impacted her rollercoaster romance with Dave Hand
‘Honestly, Dave and I are very chill. We’ve both got friends of the opposite sex. I work in a nightclub – it’s a very male-dominated space. We’ve always been open about those things since our honeymoon,’ she explained.
But she admitted the timing of the challenge couldn’t have been worse.
‘I was still processing a lot,’ she said, reflecting on the sudden turn in her and Dave’s relationship weeks earlier.
‘The viewers had moved on, but I was still living with the pain and rejection from that shift. I didn’t get to go home and heal — I had to keep moving forward.’
Jamie confessed the controversial ‘date’ was more about gaining clarity than seeking romance.
‘I was nosy,’ she admitted with a grin.
‘I genuinely wanted to know what the experts thought my type was. I’ve always been all over the place when it comes to men. I think, subconsciously, I just wanted validation — to be reminded why they matched me with Dave.’
But when her mystery match ghosted her, Jamie said the public humiliation turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
‘Aside from the fact that it was embarrassing AF, I honestly think the universe had my back. It brought Dave and me closer.
‘We had a really mature conversation afterwards and were like, “Alright, let’s put our backs into making this work.”‘
Jamie also weighed in on the backlash other contestants received — especially Paul, who caught heat for going on his own date despite being in a solid relationship with Carina.
‘Everyone’s relationship is different,’ she said.
‘For Carina, going on that date was cheating. For Dave and I, it wasn’t. We were basically on life support and needed clarity.
‘Paul and Carina were in a great place. That’s why I told him not to go. Her morals are very black and white.’
As for what she thinks of male model Tyson Fievez, the TikTok tradie claiming to be her mystery match? ‘I have no idea who that guy is,’ Jamie shrugged.
‘But if it’s true, the experts clearly have a type for me: Melbourne, tatted, tradie with a TikTok following. So maybe I do have a type after all.

‘I didn’t feel safe to express my emotions. I questioned whether the person I fell for still existed. My feelings don’t have to make sense to anyone else.’
Jamie also addressed her now-famous confession at the last commitment ceremony – when she took back saying she was in love with Dave.
‘I’m not going to apologise for being honest,’ she said firmly.
Despite the emotional ups and downs, Jamie says she has no regrets about the experiment — even if some fans continue to criticise her.
‘People hate me for existing. At least now I’ve given them a reason,’ she said, rolling her eyes. ‘I genuinely couldn’t care less.’
And while she didn’t give away the outcome of final vows, Jamie hinted that she and Dave ended the experiment on a hopeful note.
‘I felt so much more optimistic. He showed up, and I could see he was really trying. We owed it to what we built to keep giving it a go.’
As for her MAFS experience overall? ‘You can never prepare for this. The backlash, the love, the chaos — it’s been wild.
‘But the kind messages from strangers made it worth it. Honestly, the pros have outweighed the cons.’
She added with a cheeky grin, ‘Loose lips sink ships, so I’ll stop there — but stay tuned.’
