Married At First Sight star Jacqui Burfoot has broken her silence on her LinkedIn scandal after the former lawyer’s leaked resume raised eyebrows.

Married At First Sight’s Jacqui Burfoot has broken her silence after her leaked resume revealed the former lawyer claimed she was “Time Magazine’s Person of the Year” in 2006.

The 29-year-old reality TV star’s LinkedIn profile states she was awarded the honour 19 years ago – when she would have been ten years old.

‘You’ was the official theme for the award that year, meaning millions of people worldwide were also named Time’s Person of the Year as the magazine sought to recognise people worldwide who contributed user-generated content on social media.

Burfoot’s profile, seen by So Sydney!, no longer appears on LinkedIn.

After MAFS viewers questioned Jacqui about the scandal, the New Zealander took to Instagram Stories and admitted she had “trolled” fans by listing the title as one of her top achievements.

Jacqui’s Instagram reel addressing the situation was captioned, “Yes, I legit trolled the media!”

This is despite the fact that by her own admission the contentious portion of her LinkedIn profile predates her time as a public figure.

“Yes, I was Time Person of the Year in 2006, and so were you. Yes, everyone was on the cover of Time Magazine,” she said.

“This is my sense of humour where I take things literally I take the p*** out of society.

“I need someone to explain my sense of humour to me because I don’t understand it.”

Jacqui said she “laughed (her) head off so hard” when the media picked up on the fact that she had the award on her LinkedIn profile as a “little inside joke” from when she worked as a recruiter.

However, fans took the comments section to argue the controversial inclusion meant she was “lying” to people rather than trolling them.

“I like you, and I totally root for you but this is not trolling it’s just lying, fine line there, no advise [sic] on how to navigate, but if your not clear in your delivery that its a joke, it’s basically a lie,” one person said.

“But you crack the s**** when you get trolled,” another person said.

When approached by SkyNews.com.au for comment, Burfoot laughed off the inclusion as “sarcasm”.

The on-screen ‘wife’ of groom Ryan Donnelly seldom refers to her previous career as a recruiter and instead tells fans she has a double degree in law and finance with first-class honours in law.

Her LinkedIn profile states she studied at Harvard Business School, with a caveat of the course being taught online.

The school offers paid-for, short-term programmes.

Jacqui recently told SkyNews.com.au she has been unable to continue her career as a lawyer at a high-end firm in NSW since the Nine Network aired her controversial edit on the hit dating show.

Viewers have accused Jacqui of being a “golddigger” and “loopy”, with fans lambasting her for “fake crying” about seemingly mundane details like having a television in the couple’s bedroom.

“I essentially left my job after I tried to go back to work because I was mentally distressed and couldn’t work,” she said.

“I’ve been unable to continue my career… I’ve been left to fend on my own, basically.

“I wasn’t medically capable of performing my duties because I was under so much mental distress and trauma.”

It’s understood Jacqui is set to read out her scathing final vows to Ryan as the show’s controversial season 12 comes to a close next week.

She is now in a relationship with groom Clint Rice, and the couple lives at his million-dollar home in Tasmania.

Jacqui’s personal website lists a Tasmanian PO Box for correspondence and contains a link to her jewellery business for “collabs”, while she has also recently taken to selling cameos to fans.
